Sixten Larsson
I am an urban planner with 30 years experience from planning projects at national, regional, municipal and local level. The projects include new urban development, urban expansion, densification, environmental management, slum upgrading, regional development, planning policies and legislation.
In all projects training and capacity building are important components. I am particularly interested in participatory planning approaches that focus on direct involvement of communities and inhabitants. I firmly believe that sustainable urban development is achieved if planners and planning authorities take the starting point in the aspirations, needs and dreams of the people.
This will have a significant impact on the urban structure reflected in physical and socio-economic integration, safety, security and accessibility.
